Bareboat charter is the most preferred way for chartering or hiring a sailing boat, however this type of agreement has an exception of not having crew or provisioning on board. As an option, the charterer has the right for hiring a crew himself or request from the boat supplier for assistance with the extra cost. Despite of hiring or not hiring crew, the charterer is hold responsible for keeping the boat in good condition during the charter period.
Tips of Chartering a Bareboat
At least one of the crew needs to have the licensed education of knowledge for offshore sailing and finding the way. Charter Supplier has the right for directing the client for hiring a skipper, if the client has no required skills.
All around the world, bareboat charter suppliers deliver the boats are on Saturday at 17:00. Returning to base date is on Friday, and the vessel has to be delivered at 17:00 to the stated port. It is possible to stay over on board at Saturday night; disembarkation from the boat is on Saturday morning at 09:00.
Charterers always need to check all of the equipment, sails, engine stated in the contract and signs that he/she received everything. The charter supplier and authorized personnel will apply the same formality when handing the boat over from the charterer.
Boat is hand over to the charterer in clean conditions and full tank of fuel, and the charterer shall return the boat with full tank. The charterer has to drain the holding tank before the arrival, if not there will be penalty applied from the charter supplier.
The charterer has to follow the route on the signed and agreed contract for the sailing area. Keeping the Charter Supplier informed will allow the charterer change the agreed route. The charterer has to request the mandatory transit log documents from the supplier, if the sailing area will be international coast.
All of the bareboat sailing yachts are insured for the damages of 3rd parties. Dinghy boat, sailing damages, outboard engine and all equipment, which are not able to install on the boat, also individual and personal belongings are not covered by insurance.
* The charterer of the boat has to pay or replace for damages and for the things, which are missing in the inventory list.
To secure the payment of possible damages, the charter supplier will request security deposit for the charter period. The security deposit is the determined by the boats model and the amount will be forwarded to you with reservation details. You may pay the deposit by cash or credit card in the base of delivery. In the case of no damages or missing items, security deposit will be returned to you in full.
